A DEFINITION OF WARBIRD
There is no official definition of the term Warbird but the core meaning is generally believed to include any WWII era front line military combat aircraft that is now owned or operated by a civilian or civilian organisation. It does not generally include civilian aircraft painted up to represent a military machine although civilian ‘off the shelf’ aircraft have and still are being used by the military. Although the term was originally applied to World War II piston driven aircraft, these days it tends to include jets, replicas and reproductions and any retired military aircraft on a civilian register that was designed to serve or had a significant contribution to the armed forces in any capacity. | CAMERA EQUIPMENT USED
My first DSLR camera was a Sony Alpha A100 and I have remained with Sony ever since. The cameras I now use are either a Sony Alpha A580 or the new Sony SLT-A35. The lens I use depends on what I’m photographing at the time and range from the Sony 10-18mm wide angle, Sony 16-80mm zoom, Sigma 18-200mm zoom for interior and static shots and the Sony 70-300mm G SSM and the Sony 70-400mm G SSM zoom lens for flying shots. I started shooting in Jpeg and then moved to RAW but with the new Sony sensors and associated processing engines and in-camera software, I'm now back using Jpeg's as there is very little noticeable difference between the two formats in the finished processed image. | _ ©COPYRIGHT 2012
